Trust, your data, and what happens if you stop paying

What the AI does — and doesn't

The AI drafts. It reads your board photos, your tester's screen and your dictation, and fills the certificate for you to check. Every AI-filled field is flagged until you confirm it, and anything it infers rather than reads is marked as an assumption. You can type any field yourself at any time.

The AI never issues. A certificate leaves the app only when you, the signing competent person, have reviewed it and signed it. Responsibility sits with the signer, exactly as it does with pen and paper — the app cannot issue a certificate on its own.

Your customers' data

Your customers are yours. For their data, you are the controller and Certio processes it on your instructions, under UK GDPR. We never sell your data or your customers' data.

The providers that help us run the service, and only for the stated job:

• Hostinger — hosting, on UK servers
• Google Gemini — reads your photos (boards, testers, receipts); we use the paid API, whose terms state Google does not use your prompts or responses to improve its models
• Anthropic — drafts assistant replies and documents
• Stripe — payments; your card details never sit with us
• Resend — sends the emails you approve

Backups

Your account backs up automatically, and backups are versioned — so a mistake on the phone doesn't become a mistake forever. You can export everything yourself at any time: certificates, quotes, invoices, receipts, the lot.

If you stop paying

The PDFs you've issued are already yours — nothing we do can take them back. Your account goes read-only: you can still open, export and download everything, and it stays that way for a wind-down period before the account is deleted. Ask us and we'll delete it sooner. We don't hold your documents hostage.

If we ever shut down

You would get notice and an export window to take everything with you. And the certificates you've already issued remain valid regardless — a certificate's validity lives in the signature of the competent person who issued it, not in the software that helped write it.
