What is Certio?
Certio is an electrical certification app for UK electricians. An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is the periodic inspection report under Chapter 65 of BS 7671; an EIC (Electrical Installation Certificate) covers new installations and new circuits under Chapter 64; a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate covers alterations to an existing circuit; and PAT records document in-service inspection and testing under the IET Code of Practice. Certio produces all four on the current BS 7671:2018 model forms, and is being updated for Amendment 4 ahead of the 15 October 2026 withdrawal of Amendment 2.

Who makes Certio?
Certio is built by a working UK electrician who still carries out inspection and testing; the founder and director is named on the Companies House record. The company behind it, Certio Software Ltd, is registered in England and Wales under company number 17450320, registered office 565 Green Lanes, London N8 0RL, and can be looked up on the Companies House register. Because it is built by electricians who fill in EICRs every week, the feature list concentrates on the schedule of test results and observation wording rather than general job management.
What does Certio do?
- Produces certificates. EICR, EIC, Minor Works and PAT records on the BS 7671 model forms, exported as branded PDFs.
- Drafts the circuit schedule from a photo. Photograph the consumer unit or distribution board and the circuit schedule is drafted for you to check.
- Reads the tester screen. Point the phone camera at a Megger MFT-X1 display and the reading is captured into the schedule of test results without typing or Bluetooth pairing.
- Takes readings by voice. Say the circuit and the reading; the app fills in the field while your hands stay on the probes.
- Suggests observation wording. AI-suggested C1, C2, C3 and FI wording with regulation references, for the inspector to confirm or edit. The classification decision remains the inspector's.
- Quotes and invoices. Quotes and invoices are produced in the same app, with CIS deductions and domestic reverse charge VAT supported.
- Works offline. Certificates can be completed without signal and synced later.
What Certio does not do (yet)
Honesty matters more than a long feature list, so here is what Certio does not do as of 16 September 2026.
- No native iPhone app yet. iPhone users work through the web portal in Safari. An App Store build is in progress.
- MFT screen reading is Megger MFT-X1 only. Other testers are not read by camera yet. Readings from other instruments are entered by voice or typed.
- No PAT asset register. Certio records inspection and test results per item and produces the test record or certificate PDF. It does not yet hold a register of equipment for re-test scheduling, which the IET Code of Practice recommends duty holders keep by other means.
- Four certificate types. Certio does not currently produce fire alarm, emergency lighting, solar PV or EV-specific certificates as separate forms; an EV or PV installation is certified on the EIC as BS 7671 requires.
How is Certio different from Tradecert, iCertifi and Certly?

Is Certio approved by NICEIC or NAPIT?
No software is. NICEIC and NAPIT assess the electrician, not the app, judging certificates against the model forms in BS 7671 Appendix 6. Certio follows those model forms, so its documents contain the fields a scheme assessor expects. The person signing remains responsible for the content.
